Contrary to last weeks update, this weeks delivery will be on Sunday (21st). Sorry for the late notice – the plan for this weeks delivery has changed a few times and due an unwell marketeer I have no-one to do the delivery/market in my place.
I’m not used to the traffic on Sundays and i’m not certain what time i’ll be able to get away so to play it safe i’ll say all deliveries should be complete by 5pm. I’ll do my best to get them out earlier and I’ll send out a text once your box has been dropped off.
At this stage the Easter weekend delivery will happen on the Thursday prior (1st April). Hopefully there are no additional spanners in the works that mean last minute changes.
As for your fruit, this week you’ve got Angelino plums (firm, tart, dark blue/purple) and Purplegage plums (light purple, astringent when firm, sweet when soft). I haven’t had much success with the Purplegage as they have always been quite astringent and sour but I left them on the tree as long as possible so hopefully they will sweeten once they are soft. I have tried a few and they seem quite nice. That will probably be all you get of them so good luck!
There’s more sour Bramley apples plus some Cox Orange Pippin (woohoo!). The cox are one of my favourite as they are not very common but they are delicious. They have more density than the Gala/Snow so are not as ‘crispy’ but they have a beautiful flavour.
